A Registered Charity “Working for a Safer Medway”
SPRING ISSUE
      MARCH 2008
CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
How time flies. The new year is now well underway and plans are already taking shape for this year’s Conference, with the sub-committee busy arranging the speakers to make this a very enjoyable evening.
After careful consideration, and requests from Coordinators, we decided to hold the Conference on a weekday evening. Just to remind you the date is Tuesday 17th June at the usual venue of Rainham School for Girls.
More local area meetings are now taking place in Medway. Gillingham held their first meeting in January which was well attended and another is planned for later in the year, this follows the success of the area 9/10 meetings, held at the Millennium Centre in Rainham twice a year and the Lordswood / Walderslade meetings. We hope to start one in the Rochester area soon, perhaps if you live in that area you may wish to help run it, just give the Office a call and we will gladly help you.
Request ...
There is now a bigger print run of our Newsletter ‘Watchword’ starting with this issue, so more of you will be able to see it and for some it will be their first time. Just let the Office know how many copies you would like for your members, we will try our very best to fulfil your request, and to arrange collection. ‘Watchword’ is published four times a year with many interesting articles and we are always looking for more input from YOU the Coordinator.
Dear All,
Guidance ...
We have produced our first ‘Coordinators     Handbook’ which has just come fresh off the press. It contains many pages of useful      information on advice and guidance for       Coordinators, including ‘The role of the       Coordinator’, ‘Running a Scheme’ and how to ‘Keep your Scheme going’ along with much more help and information. This has taken quite some time to get to print as we wanted to get everything right and up to date. Many thanks must go to Bernie Winter  who spent many hours putting this
Fun ...
We have already started to arrange dates for our Promotional Stand to be ‘out and about’ this year again, but as always we would like your help to man the Stand. So, if you have some spare time to help man ‘or woman’ it please give Maria Jarvis a call at the Office on Medway 792131 or leave a message for her to call you back. I myself help out quite a few times and I find it great fun, you might be surprised at who you might meet there - give it a try, we don’t bite. Hope to see you there!
together after taking over the project from Ralph Smyth who had also put considerable time and effort in to getting this handbook off the ground. Congratulations to both for a job well done.
