Well here we are, well into Summer and I hope you all enjoyed your holidays. For those of you who are yet to take your holiday, please remember that thieves do not take them. So make sure that your home and garage, etc., are fully secured when you go away.
Our display stand has been on the road again and will continue to do so at every opportunity. Please log onto our web site www.medwaynwa.co.uk to find out where we are and when. While you are there take a look at all the information that is available for you such as latest scams, security and safety advice, etc.
This year in place our usual Conference, due to funding cutbacks we decided to hold a Quiz Night, this was well attended and a good night was had by all. Our thanks go to everyone who came with special thanks to our ‘Quiz Masters’ Doreen and Aubrey Belsom who freely gave their time and ran the quiz. This event helped us to raise much needed funds which help pay for the publication of this newsletter and many other things. Plans are coming together for another fund raiser, in the near future, with well known International Soprano Christine Hubbard. She has kindly offered to put on a
performance for the Association where she will be singing soprano arias and popular songs for everyone. Watch this space!
We are always looking for funding especially in these hard times, and, as I have already said we held a quiz night this year, but if you have any ideas or know someone who can put on an event for us, please let me know I would be very grateful.
This year’s AGM will be held on Tuesday 14th September at the usual venue of Rainham School for Girls, where our
speaker will be Chief Inspector Mark Arnold. Please attend if you and your Deputy can, we would love to see you there. If you cannot make it then perhaps someone from your Watch could come along on your behalf, they would be very welcome.
NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH AT ITS BEST
Just a quick email to report some good joint working last night. Please can you forward this to local Neighbourhood Watches.
At approximately 17:30 last night patrols were chasing 2 males in a stolen car in our Ward. The males dumped the car in the area of Wilson Avenue / Argyle Close and made a run for it before being caught soon after by patrols and arrested. Whilst on foot they managed to dump a jacket they were wearing which was not found by patrols.
At 21:20 last night I received a phone call from Mark from the Wilson Avenue Neighbourhood Watch telling me a local
resident had found a jacket that evening and handed it to him. I called round later on that evening and seized the jacket
which is believed to have been dumped by 2 males.
Good work all round.
Many thanks.
Editors Comment: The above is a copy of an e-mail, sent to John
Haddaway at the Neighbourhood Watch Office, reporting good work.

With the AGM fast approaching, I would like to take this opportunity of thanking all the members of the Association Committee for their help and support over the year, and for all the work that has taken place behind the scenes. We are very lucky that we have such an active Association in Medway. Of course I mustn’t forget our very own John Haddaway who keeps us all busy and motivated. Last but not least, the Coordinators as without you running your Watches throughout Medway we would not have the presence of Neighbourhood Watch in the Towns.
